Inventing Fire with AI
AI is the biggest technological leap since we first harnessed fire—and it’s changing everything. Inventing Fire With AI is a podcast for leaders, innovators, and forward-thinkers who want to understand and harness the power of artificial intelligence. Hosted by Richard Crane—Founder/CTO of MILL5 and Microsoft MVP—each episode breaks down how AI is transforming industries, solving complex problems, and reshaping the future. You’ll hear real-world applications, bold insights, and practical guidance to help you lead in the age of intelligent systems. If you want to stay ahead of the curve and build what’s next instead of fearing it—this is your podcast.

My Reaction to Sam Altman’s Boldest Claims | Kids Will Never Outsmart AI

On this episode of Inventing Fire with AI, I give my reaction to an interview with Sam Altman, founder Open AI, the company behind ChatGPT. He lays out his vision for the future of AI, envisioning a future where college graduates can use AI to build companies. He notes how while every industrial revolution has left some behind, the benefits and opportunities far outweigh the cost. As someone on the cutting edge of AI, I put some of his ideas to the test, and share what I say when people ask me about the future of AI.

AI Panel at Medellín Tech Talk 2025 | Shaping the Future with AI
Monday Sep 29, 2025
Monday Sep 29, 2025
Welcome to Episode 2 of Inventing Fire With AI. This episode is taken from a discussion I had at Medellin Tech Talk ‘25 in Colombia with Jorge Armando González Pino, Camilo Jaramillo, and Luis Robles. AI isn’t just a question of which company will emerge as the winner, but which country.
AI is replacing search engines, but also, people are telling their AI chatbots their most personal information, from medical information to their deepest fantasies. And yet, we have little to no guardrails against this information being stolen or exploited.
On jobs, disruption won’t hit everyone equally. Expect significant role shifts and net new opportunities—if you’re learning AI now. Some hedge with “blue-collar moats” (e.g., plumbing/electrical businesses), while others double down on AI mastery.
The near future isn’t only cloud. With AI chips in phones and laptops, smaller on-device models and “AI of Things” will grow, enabling private, low-latency use cases. But AI’s “kryptonite” is real: energy and water demands for data centers, infrastructure fragility (pull the plug), and compounding data-quality issues as models train on AI-generated content.
Bottom line: mix your tools, iterate fast, validate results, and build AI literacy now—because the winners will be those who put in the work.

AI vs Humans – Secure Your Future | Keynote at Edge Leadership Summit 2025
Thursday Jul 03, 2025
Thursday Jul 03, 2025
In this episode of the Inventing Fire podcast, taken from my keynote at the EDGE Leadership Summit 2025, I introduce myself and share the story behind Mill5—an AI-first company founded a decade ago, long before most people were even talking about artificial intelligence.
I explain how, through early AI applications like NLP, we were able to detect major events like the Boston Marathon bombing before the mainstream media. That real-time insight showed us just how powerful AI could be—and how fast it was evolving.
This isn’t theory. I break down exactly how AI is reshaping labor, replacing roles from surgeons to remote technicians, and transforming the economy itself. I also share why I believe general AI will be the last invention humanity ever needs to create—and why it's more urgent than ever for us to understand, adopt, and champion this technology now. Leaders have to stop sitting on the sidelines; the time to get into AI, if you haven’t already, is right now, before your competition eats your lunch.
We get into:
What it means to lead in a 10x world
Why China's AI leadership should concern us
My personal AI learning stack
The “50 touch points” strategy for staying ahead
Why I never use Google
How AI helps me launch full businesses in weeks and apps in one day.
🎧 Watch now to learn how to leverage AI before it replaces what you do.

AI may be the biggest technological leap forward in human history since we learned to harness the power of fire.
AI is the biggest technological leap forward in human history since we learned to harness the power of fire. AI is able to solve challenges that were thought to be impossible before, advancing our understanding of medicine, climate change, food production, just to name a few. But, at the same time, AI presents unique challenges that we’ve never faced before. On this, the first episode of the Inventing Fire With AI podcast, I introduce myself, and show you why I am one of the best people to turn to when you have questions about AI, and how it will change your future, and the future of the world.
